Vehicular Access to Fourchon Beach Extended to September 15
(GALLIANO, LA, AUGUST 8, 2007) –Public vehicular access to Fourchon Beach west of Pass Fourchon will be open until September 15 to accommodate Labor Day weekend beachgoers. Access is across Fourchon Bridge, take a right on to the Chevron access road, across Pass Fourchon, then left to the beach.
The temporary access involves cooperation between the Greater Lafourche Port Commission and the Edward Wisner Trust. The Port Commission, Lafourche Parish Government and others are working towards a long term solution for public access to the beaches of Lafourche Parish.
Ted Falgout, Port Director said, “Hopefully we will able to come to a long term solution in time to re-open the beach to vehicular access by the spring.”
