GLPC is monitoring weather reports, as Tropical Depression 17 has developed in the Gulf of Mexico. Port Fourchon businesses and coastal residents should be alert, but not alarmed, and monitor communications for updates and warnings.
POSSIBLE IMPACTS IN THE PORT FOURCHON AREA:
- Due the strength and quick movement of the system, we ARE NOT anticipating much in the way of ANY problems locally. Current forecasting from the National Weather Service has this system moving inland between Lafayette and Lake Charles in the early morning hours tomorrow before quickly racing norward in towards Mississippi. At this time, no watches or warnings have been hoisted for coastal Louisiana.
- RAINFALL: Likely, with higher chances of rain continuing through most of Saturday.
- TIDES: Higher than normal tides possible.
- WINDS: Gusty winds possible, especially offshore.
- ROADWAYS: NO closures anticipated at this time.
