Grow Louisiana Coalition Partners with GLPC to Showcase How Industry and Environment Thrive in Port Fourchon

(CUT OFF, LA) – In February, representatives from the Grow Louisiana Coalition approached the Greater Lafourche Port Commission about filming a short video highlighting Port Fourchon.

After being brought on an extensive tour of the port, many ideas and footage were exchanged that culminated in a minute-plus video detailing the importance of Fourchon as not only a key energy supplier but also an environmental mecca which possesses world-class fishing and more than 1,200 acres of rebuilt marsh.

The footage does a good job of capturing the holistic vision of GLPC to show how a perfect balance can be struck between industry and environment, according to GLPC Executive Director Chett Chiasson.

“We always tell anyone and everyone who will listen to us that this port knows its role in being stewards of keeping our coastline vibrant, not only for the many valued tenants and users that call it home but also the many species of wildlife and fish that depend on it as well,” Chiasson said.

Continued efforts are planned for future projects that will keep contributing to the local economy from not only a dollars and cents perspective but also through the resilience and sustainability that comes from nourishing the surrounding landscape through constant mitigation where dredged materials are given a rightful spot where they can thrive, thus contributing to the overall well-being of all those living in south Louisiana.
