Staff attorney

The Greater Lafourche Port Commission is seeking a Staff Attorney to support legal and operational functions under the supervision of the General Counsel. This role involves litigation, contract drafting, regulatory compliance, risk management, and lease administration to protect the Port’s interests and ensure compliance with laws and policies.


GLPC Staff Attorney Scope of Work


Key Responsibilities: Provide legal advice to Port leadership and staff, draft and negotiate contracts including leases, service agreements, and intergovernmental contracts, represent the Port in litigation and lease-related disputes, support risk management by advising on insurance and liability matters, maintain legal records and track deadlines, present updates to the Board and collaborate with external counsel as needed.


Qualifications: Licensed to practice law in Louisiana, minimum two years of legal experience.
