June 18 @ 9:00 a.m. – TC3 Phase 2 Voluntary Evacuation, Update 4

GLPC PHASE 2: VOLUNTARY EVACUATION
Potential Tropical Cyclone Three

UPDATE #4
Friday, June 18, 2021
9:00 a.m.

Port Fourchon remains in Storm Phase 2: Voluntary Evacuation. Potential Tropical Cyclone Three is forecast to become a tropical storm today and make landfall overnight/early tomorrow morning in Southeast Louisiana.

Please secure equipment and/or products and determine any special needs of all vessels and personnel at your facilities in the port.

There are no road closures at this time. Port Fourchon Harbor Police will be monitoring the condition of the roadway, and the Port Commission will send out updates as they become available. Port Fourchon businesses and coastal residents should be alert, but not alarmed, and monitor communications for updates and warnings.

Please review your facility’s hurricane plan, be thoughtful of stockpiling any loose material or excess items that could fly away or be damaged if Port Fourchon is affected by a storm, and make sure the Port Commission has your facility’s updated contact information so that you can receive timely storm-related information.

POSSIBLE IMPACTS IN THE PORT FOURCHON AREA:

  • This weather system remains disorganized, so forecast confidence is moderate.
  • RAINFALL: Heavy rainfall of 4-8 inches with isolated higher amounts possible.
  • TIDES/STORM SURGE: Elevated tides of 1-3 feet could lead to minor coastal flooding, with peak water levels later this evening.
  • WINDS: Tropical storm force winds, mainly in gusts, expected this evening into early tomorrow morning.
  • ROADWAYS: No anticipated closures at this time, but this may potentially transition to road closure if tides rise and overtop the roadway between Golden Meadow and Leeville. Please keep this in mind as you plan any travel below the Golden Meadow lock. **The highest potential for road closure would be in the late night to early morning hours Friday night/Saturday morning based on National Weather Service Guidance**

WARNINGS, WATCHES, & ADVISORIES (NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE Update 6/18/2021 @ 4:00 AM):

  • TROPICAL STORM WARNING (for Louisiana coast) in effect.
  • COASTAL FLOOD WARNING in effect.
  • FLASH FLOOD WATCH in effect from 1:00 PM today through 7:00 AM Sunday.
