Key Senate and House Committee Personnel Visit Port Fourchon

aug242006(GALLIANO, LA, AUGUST 24, 2006) – Staffers of the Senate Environmental and Public Works Committee, Senate Commerce Committee, House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and US Army Corp of Engineers met in Port Fourchon last week.

The meeting and tour of Port Fourchon was part of a 3 day field trip to demonstrate the need to implement improved hurricane protection and show how the integration of coastal restoration with hurricane protection makes sense to insure efficiencies.

Port Director Ted Falgout gave a presentation to the group on the important role Port Fourchon plays to the nation’s oil supply. “This was an excellent opportunity to educated key staff people from D.C. about why they and the committees they run, should be concerned about saving coastal Louisiana,” said Falgout.
