Harbor Police Receives Coast Guard Certificate of Merit

(GALLIANO, LA,) –The Port Fourchon Harbor Police Department received a Certificate of Merit from the United States Coast Guard in recognition of their unwavering commitment and exceptional support of the Coast Guard’s port safety, security, and marine environmental protection missions from June 2005-June 2008 at a Change of Command Ceremony held on Friday in Houma, LA.

According to the Certificate of Merit, The Port Fourchon’s Harbor Police’s willingness to immediately respond to a scene involving an oil spill, threat, etc. has saved untold Coast Guard personnel and resource hours. .

Coast Guard Lieutenant Commander Chris Woodle said, “The Fourchon Harbor Police have been tremendous partners of the Coast Guard during my tenure in Houma. There were many, many times they stepped up and assisted us with our port safety and security missions so I wanted to formally recognize them at my change of command ceremony.”.

Chief of Harbor Police Jon Callais said, “It is a great honor for our department to receive this Certificate of Merit from the Coast Guard. I would like to praise all the men and women in our department for a job well done.”
